Overview of fiberglass reinforced polymer (FRP) composite pipe piling (Dock, Fender & Bearing)
The goal of the presentation will be to provide an overview of the fabrication, engineering (Mechanical properties), and installation of FRP piling, by showcasing existing FRP projects and installations as well as covering the advantages of FRP’s over traditional materials.
Addressing Foundation Challenges with Ductile Iron Piles
Engineers and contractors are constantly faced with finding foundation solutions on challenging sites. This task becomes more difficult when faced with construction scenarios including constrained site access, building additions, vibration concerns, overhead clearances and other factors that often limit the use of traditional driven piles. This presentation discusses the Ductile Iron Pile system – a low vibration, driven pile system used on many projects to address these practical challenges. The presentation features an overview of the system including installation, design and performance in the context of project experience.
Bridge Replacement Adjacent to Sensitive Utility with Non-vibratory Pile Driving
This presentation will discuss how a non-vibratory, minimal noise pile driving method was used to protect a 72” force main for a Department of Transportation agency. Steel sheet piles were installed around the force main in order to protect it from vibrations that were expected from the future construction of bridge piers nearby as part of a bridge replacement project.
